SpeciesDetail
Largemouth BassBass fishing has been fair. With summer like temperatures and bright days bass have been holding to the outside edges of deeper cypress trees and piers. Try tossing a black and blue jig or a pearl fluke around. Other go to baits include include blue and white spinnerbaits or crawfish colored creature baits.
CrappieCrappie fishing has been fair. The majority of the spawn has past and fish are trending towards deeper pools. Look for crappie to be suspended over brush piles or on the move. Small jigs with pink or chartreuse heads paired with monkey milk or blue ice plastics have produced good numbers of quality fish.
BreamBream fishing is good and picking up. Bluegill are being caught around piers with brush, throughout buck chute and along the cypress trees. Red worms seem to have the best success but crickets or small bettlespins are also popular.
CatfishCatfishing is picking up with lots of eater size catfish being caught. Try liver, crawfish tails, or shrimp fished on the bottom. Adding kool-aid or garlic for a little extra enhancement has proven successful. Hand grabbing season opens May 1st and runs through July 15.
White BassWhite Bass are seldom targeted but caught in abundance by crappie anglers. Try targeting them with little George's or shad imitation crankbaits.
